I've been using the tv for a month now and on the whole I'm delighted with it. The only complaints I have are slight niggles and wouldn't prevent me from buying the same tv again, so I'm a happy camper.

So what are the niggles?

When you link the tv with an LG home cinema kit, the tv does not remember the link every time and so you have to set the link between the tv and the home cinema every time you use the tv. They call it Simplink, but it doesn't really work.

More importantly, if you want to use the DLNA feature of the tv you may have a problem. Although I have a LG DLNA server on the same network as the tv, the tv often does not 'see' the DLNA server which is frustrating, and I can't work out why that is even even though I'm fairly good with the tech stuff. My workaround is to get the Home Cinema box to hook up to the DLNA server, which it does 100% of the time. The functionality is the same, but if you don't get another box with DLNA functionality and rely solely on the tv for your DLNA functionality you may be disappointed. This is the biggest drawback and the only feature of the tv that does not do what it should.

The picture is AWESOME, and that's the prime function. It is clear, sharp and with tweaking you can adjust the picture to your own tastes. Photos and videos look great on the tv. I have used the tv speakers occasionally and although they are not as good as a separate system they are nevertheless very acceptable.

I have a Humax freesat box hooked up to the tv and HD looks every bit as great as it should and I have noticed no motion blurring at all with any program or movie.

The built in BBC iPlayer app works very well indeed and I hope a later firmware release will include ITV's and C4's offerings.

My Apple tv works very nicely with the tv, movies, photos etc all look amazing.

Tv's are now at the hub of any media setup and the LG does not disappoint, the built in smart features all work well, DLNA excepted.

Overall it's a great tv, exceptional value for money since you get a set of features and a picture quality that would cost you far more in other brands. If you buy it you will not be disappointed, especially if you hook up a media orientated box to take care of your music, videos and photos interface with your PC etc.

I have a similar size full HD panasonic tv elsewhere, this knocks the spots off it!

I ordered this TV after much research. Admittedly it would be better if it came with the 'Magic' remote included but other than that it is a fantastic bit of kit. The only assembly needed was 8 screws to attach the base, which took just a few minutes. Plugged in, switched on and waited patently while the auto-tuning process completed its routine and then - WOW! A fantastic picture, amazingly crisp and clear, no shadows, nothing whatsoever to detract from viewing enjoyment. It even vastly improved the images from my ancient DVD player. All in all, I can't sing the praises of this TV enough and even if it was twice the price it would still be a fantastic buy. It had both me and my wife thinking that we must have got new eyes!

I am a 65 year old non-techy who wanted to upgrade my sit-up-and-beg old tv +Sky Freeview/dish, but how very confusing it is with so much choice available and jargon. I was going for a Panasonic plasma but couldn't find a 37" to inspect, and I have heard mixed reports, so after much research I finally settled on this non-reviewed LG model. I'm glad I did.
I summarise my opinion as follows:

*First, an excellent service as usual from Amazon.
*I wanted an up-to-date model incorporating 37" screen, 100MH, LED, Freeview HD. Many that you see are `old' models; this one is May 2011. Always look for the date in Amazon's description.
* Taking it out the box, this is certainly the slimmest TV I have ever seen, and very smart. The solid base is easily attached by 6 small screws.
*I panicked that there was no scart socket but an adaptor is included. The sockets are upwards or sideways fitting so there is minimal affect on the slim profile. Panic no. 2 was when the screen brightness started to fade of its own accord as the outside light faded in the evening but I discovered this auto feature can be switched off (much better).
*The self-tuning started straightaway and soon brought in 80+ Freeview channels and 24 radio stations.
*The HD channels are fine but I really can't see a huge difference between this and SD. I gather that many so-called HD channels don't always broadcast in HD. The advantage varies slightly from channel to channel.
* Most importantly, I cannot fault the picture or sound quality. Awesome. I cannot see any indication of the ripple/blurring of outlines, especially in fast moving scenes, that was a problem with earlier models. I was also relieved that channel-changing is quite quick without that irritating 3-4 second wait. I have slight high frequency deafness but with this tv I don't seem to need the volume up in the way that I did with the old set.
* I was pleased to learn that I could separately plug in my Sky box via the scart adaptor so now, if I want, I can easily switch between Sky Freeview and the built in Freeview. This gives me as many channels as I want without monthly outlay.
* The manual is ultra thin too, and perhaps not very comprehensive, but there are 2 CDs which I have not yet played.
* The remote control is well set out and I have just about got the hang of it.
* A word of caution: have you noticed how the salerooms seem to be pushing larger and larger screens? I was going to go for a 42" but now I am glad I did not. I have an 18'x12' living room and even this 37" tends to dominate the corner and risks being too `in your face'. If in doubt, make a cardboard template and judge for yourself. I am also glad I did not mount over the fireplace since I think that viewing on eye-level is much preferable. Otherwise it would certainly be very slim for wall-mounting.
* As I say, I am not a techy and have not yet got to grips with all the additional SMART features etc of this incredible tv, but it looks as if I must now buy a dongle and experiment with the help of my much more technology-intuitive grandson !
* One phones to register the free 1 year guarantee and I got the hard sale to extend this for monthly payments totalling £120. I declined, but it's a gamble isn't it, and if anything goes wrong I doubt if there's anyone around who can cheaply repair these tvs.

Basically, I am very very satisfied and I can think of no negative aspects to report. Maybe the cost seems a little high but not really for this spec. and for an up-to-date model. I won't miss 3D, simply can't see this catching on because you feel detached from your surroundings and having to buy all those sets of spare glasses and buying batteries for them ...ugh....no thanks! I'll wait for projected hologram tv (if I live long enough!)

I hope this helps others who feel at risk of being lost in the maze of telly-choice!

I have both a LCD tv and this panasonic plasma! This plasma tv is better picture quality than the LCD because of its deep rich colours and amazing definition also this tv has amazing features. I was looking at this and the model above it but it wasnt worth paying around £300 for the model above that only has a few added features like freesat which i wont use and also dnla laptop connecting thingy. The only reason i dont advise this tv for a bedroom is that it can make a very slight buzzing on standby and if ur in a bedroom it would drive me crazy. Perfect for a lounge as you wont notice it there. Best tv i have ever bought, totally amazing. I bought mine from comet who are currently doing a deal on this tv for £500 with 2 free pairs of 3d glasses and a half price wifi dongle which is a MUST to have with this telly as the viera cast features with internet are AMAZING!!!! Highly recommend this tv and take my review as truth because im a perfectionist when it comes to this stuff and i researched thouroughly before buying. Go to comet...

The Panasonic P50ST30B Plasma Television is at face value a very nice piece of equipment. It had full 1080P high definition capability, displays full HD 3D, produces deep blacks, deep colour and very nice picture quality.

Unfortunately it also has two glaring problems that are so obviously unacceptable in a TV costing as much as this model does that I wonder how Panasonic have the nerve to even consider marketing the set.

The first of these is a sudden and highly distracting shift in brightness in certain scenes. Panasonics customer services department call it a feature, I call it a very obvious and totally unacceptable design flaw that makes the set virtually unwatchable. Imagine if you will an audio device that randomly alters the volume and how annoying that would be and you will have some understanding of how frustrating an apparent brightness shift would be on a video display.

The second issue which my ST30 has is random patches of green on some areas of the screen which are particularly visible on greyscale images. This is also visible in colour images, depending upon the colour of the image being displayed.

I am deeply disappointed with this TV set and would not recommend it to anybody until Panasonic UK have the decency to recognise the flaw in their product and takes steps to address the issue. Panasonic in the US are doing just that and are hoping to issue a firmware update. The same update is needed in the uk but I cannot see that happening when the company refuses to recognise the issue.

Stay well clear!

UPDATE: Panasonic UK are are now achnowledging that FBr is an issue are are collecting data from customers as well as investigating the issue at their factory. This is a great step forward and Panasonic UK deserve recognition for doing so.

UPDATE 2: Panasonic have now released a Firmware update 1217 which many people say solves the FBr issue that has plagued the ST, GT & VT sets. Kudos to Panasonic for taking the issue seriously and working to come up with a solution, Thank You!

This is my first Panasonic TV (or 3D TV for that matter) and I've been very impressed with it. Having done a fair amount of research on 3D Tv's this seemed like an affordable option. This is the 2nd generation 3D Tv that Panasonic have come out with as far as I know and there are improvements - the first generation are VT20's or GL20's. The main difference as far as I am aware to the older versions are that Panasonic have developed technology to reduce crosstalk which occurs when you are viewing material in 3D and it's not looking quite like it should (each active pair of glasses basically show separate images to each eye making it seem as though something is in 3D but fails to happen properly during crosstalk).
This ST30 model is missing DNLA (which allows for easier and better networking with your other multimedia items in your household, and better looks from it's more expensive brothers GT30 and VT30. It also has faster-switching phosphors, reduced power consumption and a new screen filter.

Out of the box
When you get your brand new shiny 3d TV, the first thing you will need to do is attach the base stand to the actual TV. You can do this on your own but is a little tricky. There is a forked prong that fits into the base and you screw this in but make sure that you look for the black plastic cover before you attach it to the TV which was found separately at the bottom of the box with mine. The TV then slots onto the forks and you screw this on. The TV can then swivel on it's stand to about 35 degrees either way from straight ahead .Unlike the Panasonic flagship the ST does not come with any 3D glasses so you'll have to buy your own. I've got the Panasonic TY-ew3D2ME Rechargeable Active Shutter 3D Glasses for GT and VT Plasma Range - Medium which work perfectly.

Setting up
The initial auto set up attempts to connect to internet immediately so ensure you have either your ethernet cable in or alternatively you can connect wirelessley (i connected via ethernet cable so haven't tried wireless connection yet. After this the TV searches for analogue channels.

Looks
The TV looks good although those of you that like sleeker designs may want to view picture differences to the GL or VT versions which have more elegant frame but this didn't bother me. I found it odd that the 2d-3d conversion is only currently found on the remote control. Talking about the remote control it isn't particularly nice lookikng or sleek and has a very tacky silver plastic feel to it. This doesn't bother me again but those of you who are ultra image concious may want to avoid this model. There are 4 HDMI slots, a component connections, SD card slot for immediate viewing of pictures from your camera and USB connections for charging. I've still got to try connecting an external hard drive to see if I can record content and playback but I'm not sute if it's capable of this.
There is no PC connection but this doesn't bother me and I've heard that plasma tv's aren't great for pc use anyway.

Picture quality
The picture quality is very clear and bright with a little tweaking with contrast, brightness etc. The hd content really shines (we have virgin and may upgrade to ensure we get as much hd channels as possible now). We watched the original clash of the titans in hd and the quality was absolutely superb

Use
The default when turning on is analogue tv but you can change this to AV. As we have all our connections on AV channels , virgin hdmi, ps3 xbox360, apple tv.

3d use
As I mentioned earlier this version has better screen compared to 20 version which reduces cross talk when viewing 3d. Those who don't already know and haven't tested at their local Currys/pc world 2d-3d conversion just gives depth to the picture, so don't expect things to jump out at you as this will only happen with 3d specific content. Playing on my Xbox360 is reasonable using 2d-3d conversion- I tried Call of Duty black ops on the Xbox which was fantastic - in case you didn't know you can go to options and select to use Stereoscopic 3D. Some parts of menu are more obviously layered and gameplay is very good in 3D although you need to get used to the new perspective for aiming.. I watched 3d tron, Legend of the Guardians to test 3d properly which was just as good as 3d at the cinema. I've not tried 3d on ps3 gaming yet but there are titles out there that supprt 3d like revamped Batman Arkham Asylum. I updated my ps3 to view 3d bluray - do this by going into "display settings>video output settings" then set up the HDMI view and Voila, it should say that it now set up for 3D bluray movies.

A fine reader of any (multiregion, multicode) DVDs, and specially Blu-Ray discs. It renders wonderfully clear, nitid image and sound. But the NETWORK connection is entangled and very user UNfriendly. As for compressed files, with subtitles, etc., there are several qualms: HD material in mkv, mp4 files, etc., (via USB or disc) present various problems of compatibility. Yes, it does read AVI and MKV files but NOT ALL OF THEM. As far as AVI files, it will only read XviD coded, no DivX coded avi files at all . Any mkv files with multisubtitles have problems, mostly ignoring the subtitles altogether or unwilling to play the whole file at all. Also, not every subtitles in srt file extention gets registered at all. In fact one is very lucky to be able to watch, say, an avi movie with subtitles in srt. And if there are more than one srt subtitles, it won't aknowledge the different ones, just one (if lucky). The whole matter of compressed files is awkward and annoying, as other blu-ray players will read them (i.e. my LG BD350) although without the fine quality of the SONY.

This is a compact but ever so stylish TV unit that suits my decor well. I would have liked the walnut to be a tad darker (its a shade or two lighter in the flesh than on the pics) but it's a minor grumble.

I'm using it with a 40" TV and I think it is easily capable of taking this size without looking garish or overloaded.

Criminally easy to put together, i was dubious about balancing the glass shelves without any screws but I've had this for a year now without issue. It's also took a couple of fairly hefty hits from the hoover without any noticeable damage to the wood sides.

I've used a PS3 continuously for hours on the top shelf of this stand without a single episode of overheating or noticeable fan whine.

This final point may be obvious from the pics but you won't get any more than one device per shelf into this unit so if you have Sky, a DVD player, PVR and games console look for a bigger stand as the wood sides mean there is no wiggle room to squeeze things in.

Just have to say how impressed I was with the delivery (ordered Sat got Monday afternoon) what a wonderful surprise, and it looks fantastic.. very chic.. and so elegant,and was so simple to put together. Beautiful chrome stands fitted within 2 seconds and the glass shelf slides in thats it... ready for my 42" LED tele. Saw this stand almost £100 more on another site. Thank you so much totally impressed.
